My Very First Car Ride
The Journey Home
My first-ever car journey wasn’t to a beach, a park, or a holiday destination. It was something much more special. It was the day my Amma and Appa brought me home from Appa’s friend’s house.I still remember that special day — July 21, 2025. Amma and Appa came to bring me home from Appa’s friend’s house. That was where my journey with Amma and Appa began.
I Love Car Rides…
But My Tummy Has Other Plans!
Now here’s something funny about me. I absolutely LOVE car rides, but my little tummy has other plans! My doctor suggested that Amma and Appa take me on short 15–20 minute drives to help me get used to travelling. But after around 30 minutes, my tummy usually starts protesting, and I end up throwing up! Still, the moment I hear car keys, I’m ready for another adventure. My heart says VROOOOM, while my tummy says OH NOOO!
My First BIG Road Trip
Chennai to Bengaluru!
My first big road trip was from Chennai to Bengaluru when Amma and Appa shifted to our new home. A new city, a new house, and so many unfamiliar sights and smells! I didn’t understand why we were travelling so far, but I knew one thing — wherever Amma and Appa went, I wanted to go too. Because for me, home isn’t a city or a house. Home is wherever my Amma and Appa are.
Excuse Me, Appaaa! That’s MY Seat!!!
And speaking of car rides, I have a very important seating preference! I absolutely love peeping outside the window and watching the world go by.But sitting quietly on Amma’s lap? Hmm, not my favourite.Sitting alone in the back seat? Excuse me, absolutely NOT!I always want to be close to Appa in the driver’s seat.Appa keeps trying to teach me to sit safely and independently in the back seat, but I keep protesting. Appaaa, how am I supposed to supervise our adventures from all the way back there?!I’m your Chief Co-Pilot, remember?
But my most precious car-related memory isn’t about a road trip at all. It’s about something that happens every single morning.
My Favourite Morning Ritual
Now comes one of the most special parts of my day. Every morning, my Appa gets ready to leave for his office. And every morning, I know exactly what’s happening. I follow him to the gate and stand there watching him walk towards the lift. Appa says bye to me.I watch.I wait. And the moment he disappears inside the lift. ZOOMM..! I run as fast as my tiny legs can carry me! Straight to the balcony!Ammaaaa! Quick! Pick me upppp! You see, we live on the third floor, and I’m too tiny to see the road properly by myself. So I ask Amma to lift me up safely and help me watch for Appa’s car.And then. There he is! MY APPA! But here’s the sweetest part. Appa doesn’t just drive away. He comes out of the gate, stops his car, and opens the sunroof. Then he looks all the way up towards our third-floor balcony."TOFFEEEEEEE!" That’s my Appa calling me.He waves his hand and says bye to me from his car. And I stand there with Amma, looking down at my favourite hooman. Every. Single. Morning. No matter how busy Appa is, he never forgets our little goodbye ritual. He knows his little boy is waiting upstairs just to see him one more time before he leaves. And only after waving goodbye does Appa drive away.Hoomans, you might think it’s just a small everyday moment. But to me? It’s one of the biggest expressions of love in my tiny little world.
Was That Appa’s Car?! Is He Back?!
Once Appa leaves for work, another important duty begins. My ears go into SUPER DETECTIVE MODE! 🕵️Beep! WAS THAT APPA?!Click-click! IS THAT HIS CAR LOCK?!Honk honk! AMMAAAA! I THINK APPA IS HOME!!!Every car horn, every locking sound, every familiar noise from outside makes me wonder whether my Appa has returned. My ears perk up. My eyes get bigger. My tail gets ready. Because what if it’s him?! What if my favourite playmate is finally home?! Sometimes it’s just another car. Sometimes I get excited for absolutely no reason. But I don’t mind. Because one of those sounds will eventually mean…APPA IS HOMEEEE!And then? Well, let’s just say my tail has a LOT of celebrating to do!
Our Adventures Have Only Just Begun!
